"When you turn a gift away from your door, it goes to the one who takes it in."
I was incredibly stressed about my living situation today, to the point that I even cried a bit, but after being given a couple of messages, I'm feeling much more secure in everything being okay. What were the messages you ask? When I got to D&W there was a single bag of my favorite chips waiting for me in the very back of the shelf. I'd gone planning on getting them on killer sale, so it would've been a real disappointment to leave without them. Just before I left Adeline's tonight, I agreed to come back to hang out on Thursday, completely forgetting that I had a meeting a scant fifteen minutes after I'd've arrived at Girly Girl's house. I was going to have to bite the bullet and ask for the meeting to be rescheduled, something I was loath to do at the last minute, but pretty much had to do because, as you likely know, summer can be a very slow season for me financially, so I have to take every opportunity I can get. What did I find when I got home? While I was out playing with Short, Cute, & Funny, the other folks involved in the meeting had rescheduled it for Wednesday. I didn't have to do a thing. How awesome is that? You can see why I'm feeling far more secure than I was before. This is made all the more vivid because my phone, my dear, sweet, old man of a phone, chose today to knock on Death's door. It feel off my lap and the mic finally went kaput. I can still talk with my hands-free and text with no problem, but the sound is bad and it can only last so much longer. I hate having to change phones, mostly because the texting software currently available doesn't do what I want it to like this phone, but I knew this was coming and already have a replacement picked out. Jon was kind enough to pull a few suitable phones for me a few months ago and, as of today, I can go in whenever and they'll have everything I want in stock, so the transition will be as painless as possible. This pleases me. I can handle people changes, but right now stuff changes can unnerve me quite a bit, so this is nice. Finally found plain banana ice cream, and it tastes more like someone used too much vanilla extract. Sadface. Did stupid boring money crap this evening, then finally got to write. Wrote a doofy ten page cutesy fluffy nonsense piece. Not sure what I'll do with it yet, hmm. Bed now. Current Mood: tired |

My Sister is a Proletariat
My sister is performing LABOR right now. The result of her labor will be a new boy or girl who will call me "Uncle Jon". I'm very excited!! I am watching her animals and doing an EXCELLENT job. Sebastian attacked Chrissy in the eye with his nose. RESULT: they are both ok. Also I got in trouble because I forgot a memory card so we can't play Bully. |

Day 5: Legs/Back
Tai Chi empty-hand is pretty much okay, just have to work on breathing. Sword still catches in a few places. Already halfway through the Fan form and it's tons of fun. When the new students come along I'll be introduced as a Junior Teacher and not just as a sempai of sorts, so if circumstances ever push them my way they'll know me as someone who can teach them. No pressure or anything. Diet's back on track - mushroom/red pepper scramble for breakfast, a couple of spoonfuls of cottage cheese for snack, and then a huge salad for lunch following the Legs/Back + Ab workout. Will cheat a bit tonight with pho and beer, but this is between black belt class and dance so it's all good. (Monday's my quadruple workout day! Holy shit!) Leg/Back workout: No improvements with the chinup bar, and am somewhat sad that I'm not getting better at that just yet (Ab workout was even easier this time!). More pressing though: this is where I become really aware that my right knee does not like me. If I put too much stress on it during lunges or squats it complains - not stabbing pain, but a sort of disorienting "this is not how I should be bending and I really really want to pop somewhere" feeling. I can't get the angle right, and I don't want to wiggle the knee around when there's stress being put on it. So, I do a lighter load on the right, and go harder on the left. By the end of it though, I really really don't want my left thigh to be all huge and muscly in contrast to a gimpy right leg. Maybe I'll halfass the leg workouts from here on in. Taekwondo does a good enough job at making my calves and ass look awesome anyway. Current Mood: sleepy |

AUGH CARS
So in the past month, the Rhino has undergone: Serpentine belt replacement Harmonic balancer replacement (THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS, WEREN'T THAT FUN) And today the power steering konked out on me. Yeah, the learnings I got from the White Elephant? I'm going to get a new(er) car before the Rhino turns into a money pit. ... maybe some dorky but adorable hatchback-thing that I'll paint brown and call the Wildebeest. Current Mood: aggravated |

I may always be afraid of americans. Stolen from a protected entry. (normally I'd put the lj user=, but that seems dumb since it's somewhat private) I saw UP. I cried. I'm a big baby when it comes to things like that. I don't wanna grow old and watch everyone die and none of my dreams come true. Life was so much simpler before when I didn't dream. I guess I'll just have to try to accomplish things. Been reading the Jack Handy book, ' What I'd Say To The Martians and other veiled threats'. I really like it but it gets you into a funky mindset. I think I'll try to find some of Jack Handy's stuff on tape as his voice is gold and exceedingly suitable to his writing. I need to put deposits down on things and clean. The table seems to pile up with stuff within a week. Stuff does not need to be there. It does not belong. |

Just to clarify...
I don't care if people comment on my posts here on LJ or over on DW. That footer about commenting over on DW was added automatically and comments aren't turned off over here. So comment wherever you like, please. In other news, why must NBC/Universal make it so difficult to catch up on Chuck? I'm wary of going to the network's website and watching streaming episodes, since it seems like every other attempt to watch a streaming video crashes Firefox on my Eee PC. (I've started watching Less Than Perfect repeats on Lifetime to get my fix. Zachary Levi was so young and cute!) |

Oh, 4Kids!
I'm watching an episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's (it's the one where the Black Rose appears for the first time) and Yusei and his friends are watching a street duel. The camera pans over one of the duelists who looks (and sounds) suspiciously like Joey (wearing glasses) and someone in the crowd asks, "Ain't that Joey Wheeler?" "Nah, it's his cousin Jesse Wheeler!" I lol'd. Now if only Cartoon Network would stop showing episodes out of order. (And show more of them. According to the DirecTV guide, they're showing Yusei's duel with Armstrong in the Facility again. Which is where I started watching. Last week.) Oh! immicolia! Is Lazar as delightfully gay and psychotic in the Japanese version as he is in the dub? So far he's my favorite character. "It's so peaceful and relaxing. Just walking and reading and playing games. It's fun."
Today went a tremendous way to making up for the awfulness of last night. :) Matt got in around 3:30 and we headed straight to the beach for a picnic (I am awesome culinarily when in a pinch), a wonderful swim, and a whole mess of lying about and talking. We even ran into Adeline and her mom, which was cool because each of them had heard plenty of stories about the others. All were suitably impressed. There's more to say, as more happened, but I'm exhausted and direly need to sleep, so I'm going to do that. I just wanted to make sure I mentioned that it was indeed a good day and I'm grateful for it in a myriad of ways. Yes, very sleepy... Day 4: Yoga from Hell
Diet started well today but I fucked up later on. Veggie scramble in the morning and then once I got to D&D I dug into the hummus and salsa pretty badly (which in and of themselves aren't bad; it's the pita and chips I need to stay away from) and a couple of bottles of beer. Then I went home and crammed Yoga X and Tai Chi into a few hours so I was skipping snacktime, and for dinner I had some Chinese potato-cake and some roasted pork (with the fat still left on). And now I'm all gassy. Serves me right. Okay, so, 90-minute Yoga Day. YOGA DAY. RELAXING STRETCHY RECOVERY-MIDPOINT YOGA DAY. How the BALLS did they manage to make Yoga tiresome? By the 30-minute point I was changing out of my Thai pants into some spandex shorts because my sweat had seeped through the fabric and my face and boobs were dripping onto the mat. It was all chains of sequences, all "swing your leg back - go into runner's pose - do warrior 1 - go into warrior 2 - go into reverse warrior - and now triangle pose - and now turn yourself into a knot - and then back into warrior 2 - and then warrior 1 - and then runner's pose - and then do a pushup and then downward-facing dog - and then bridge - and then we do it all over again AND AGAIN AND AGAIN" It was trembling and balancing and orienting my torso in directions I didn't know it could possibly turn, and then the last 40 minutes were balancing, abs (ow) and stretches. I do feel looser, which is nice, and my circulation really loved what I was doing, but damn. Also I may be anticipating too much from yesterday's shoulder/arm workout but my deltoids are coming in, and they are sexy. Current Mood: full |
