How To Book Jack Thompson On Your Radio Talk Show

"If Consumer Advocate/Author Jack Thompson has his way, violent video games will be extinct altogether."

So says a listing for the controversial Miami attorney on Special Guests, a website designed to help talk show hosts locate guests for their programs. The site provides a biographical sketch of Thompson (did you know he was a classmate of Al Gore at Vanderbilt Law School?), as well as suggested interview questions.

The Special Guests service apparently charges a fee to list would-be talk show guests. Its available interview subjects appear to have a generally conservative outlook. Of course, talk radio is a generally conservative form of media.

Thompson's listing appears to be timed to help promote his new book, Out of Harm's Way, currently the 44,355th best-selling book on Amazon. The lead paragraph in Thompson's Special Guests profile reads:

JOIN THE "FUN": VIRTUAL RAPE/VIOLENT MURDER..

Latest Generation of Video Games for Children - Available for Christmas!

Violent Rape - is now legal. Violent Mass Murder - is now legal. So, how do we join the "fun"?

Easy: Just buy one of the latest generation video games on store shelves now - but hurry; they're going fast - really fast.

And if Consumer Advocate/Author Jack Thompson has his way, violent video games will be go
(sic) extinct altogether.

Ed: Here at GP we are having a spot of trouble reconciling that "extinct
altogether" line with Thompson's insistence that "My only position for six years on this has been: Mature games must not be sold to minors. That is my only position."

Suggested Thompson interview questions listed at Special Guests include:

- Can video games really permanently alter a persons brain?

- Aren't Republicans supposed to be opposed to more government regulating our lives?

- Where does your regulation end? Aren't you putting us on a slippery slope of censorship?

- What are some of the video game companies that you believe are acting irresponsibly?

- With the holiday buying season coming around, what games should parents buy for kids?

Thanks to GP reader Stephen Jacobs for for letting us know about the Special Guests listing! Stephen is an Assistant Professor in the Information Technology Department, Rochester Institute of Technology. He teaches graduate level game and online community courses.

That is not my position, and Dennis knows that. I was unaware that the agency was using that language, and I have just instructed them to knock it off.

Further, which is very interesting, why in the world did Dennis McCauley not contact me for a comment? Because he didn't want one. A real journalist would have called me. Further, just so it is clear, I don't get paid a penny for any radio appearances. Dennis, shame on you.

By the way, Dennis, when are you going to report that I have put out the fact that Hillary's video game bill is unconstitutional, hmmm?

Dennis' performance, as a hack, in not asking me for a comment on the false presentation of my views I think ends permanently my visits here. This time for good.

Whatever, Jack.

I certainly didn't imply that you were paid for your radio appearances, although if you were, that's your business. I know you are setting them up to promote your book.

Nothing here. Just a lot of "I told you so"'s and "Look someone printed the story I wrote for them".

I'm going to assume this is another one of those "I swear I sent you the email, you must be lying, I can't have forgotten to click 'send' again" situations.

You know, for someone needs attention so badly, you don't give Dennis much incentive to offer you any. I wouldn't blame him if he kept you from commenting here entirely.

By the way, Dennis, when are you going to report that I have put out the fact that Hillary's video game bill is unconstitutional, hmmm?

When the fuck did you say that? After the fact, I imagine...

Wow, Jack.. that's a really nice way to talk to Dennis. Especially after he took the time to interview you, and continues posting all the 'press releases' you send him despite how rude you are when things don't go your way. You seem comfortable with the idea that Dennis doesn't have a life outside of this site, and must drop everything he's doing to post everything you send him.

And we all knew you were lying to begin with; we don't need 'false' language to tell us that. If you really want to restrict the sales of violent games to minors and NOTHING ELSE, why are you trying to get Bully banned? Why are you trying to get Liberty City Stories banned? What's the deal with harassing the ESRB about getting a whole list of games re-rated 'AO' (therefore removing them from shelves, practically cutting off any possible sales to adults)? Please answer me, Jack. I'm dying to know.

Hmmmm?

Yeah right. "This time for good", my ass. You're an embarrasment, Jack. You're addicted to attention and Gamepolitics is one of the few places that still listen to your blathering. You can't stay away. You never can stay away.

I've got $100 to the charity of your choice that says you can't keep from poking your nose in here for three months. You just can't keep away from the attention. You're an addict, and I'm betting a hundred bucks you can't quit from getting your fix.

Prove me wrong, Jack. E-mail me at getwellgamers@gmail.com and name the charity, then see if you can keep your word even once.

Could have fooled us, liar. You've tried to have games banned from being sold to ANYONE. Then you go on to claim that you were only trying to prevent sales to minors. Make up your mind.

I was unaware that the agency was using that language, and I have just instructed them to knock it off.

Oh sure, it was THEIR fault for showing us how much you can't make up your mind... Riiiiight.

A real journalist would have called me.

For comment on why you contradict yourself? Why bother? Because we all know the answer will be "I didn't contradict myself, stop lying or else!"

By the way, Dennis, when are you going to report that I have put out the fact that Hillary's video game bill is unconstitutional, hmmm?

So what? Everyone else here pointed that out too, before you did I might add. So get in line.

See, As usual, jacks failures in life become quickly self obvious in the way he acts. Making broad claims but never backing them up with facts since he knows we can disprove him, insulting people, and losing what little support or credibility he ever had. Nothing new, and honestly, it's getting very very old.

Jack, If you are leaving ,thats great, cause it means we can have actual conversations about this issues at hand without your mindless stupidity everyday.

If not, you'd just be a liar yet again, not to mention hypocrite, media whore, and utter and total failure.

You never could take defeat easily, blaming everyone but yourself for your failures seems to be a theme in your life.

Oh relly. You use that language some of the time with us, with the PA guys I bet when you chewed one of them out over the phone. So don't try to pass the buck there buddy.

Further, which is very interesting, why in the world did Dennis McCauley not contact me for a comment? Because he didn't want one. A real journalist would have called me. Further, just so it is clear, I don't get paid a penny for any radio appearances. Dennis, shame on you.

Oh great the old "I'm gonna place blame on Dennis McCauley because he did not ask for my thoughs on this issue". Hey Jack I bet your just lashing out at Dennis because your "buddys" at CNN have stopped comeing to you to ask for a comment on a gameing news story. There's no need to get pissed off at Dennis just because of your hang-up's with some of the major media outlets.

By the way, Dennis, when are you going to report that I have put out the fact that Hillary's video game bill is unconstitutional, hmmm?

Oh my God you need to get it through your thick head. Dennis is not takeing sides. he's not on the "gamer left" or how I like to call the right the "moron lawer right". Dennis is in the middle of it. He reports on both sides of the coin not just on our side that you seem to have problems IDing that.

Dennis' performance, as a hack, in not asking me for a comment on the false presentation of my views I think ends permanently my visits here. This time for good.

Dennis let me say I'm sorry that Jack has to blast you about 3 or so times over what he thinks is your not in his pocket when it comes to reporting the news. I think your doing a bang up good job on it. I mosty think poltics are largey boreing but when I discovered this place I found that poltics can be fun!

So Jack you say your leaveing now hmm...? Did you try this 2 times before just to come back a few weeks later and egg us on some more? I for one will love to see how long you will stay away from this place and resist the urge to not attack the gameing communty. My guess is you will be back in a few weeks times to egg us on some more just like the pathetic man that you are. You remind me of that Simpson ep. that Homer quits his job (in your case Jack quitting your commenting) only to come back on his hands and knees for his job back. It's kind of how I see it what your doing.

Jack, you know you agree with the blurb written fro that site, don't lie.

"By the way, Dennis, when are you going to report that I have put out the fact that Hillary's video game bill is unconstitutional, hmmm?"

Why such a sudden change, Jack? You must be lying about that because in no way would you oppose any legislation against games. Or are you just jealous that you weren't treated as a consultant (who know's jack squat. Hey! Your name is in there!)

"Dennis' performance, as a hack..."

Jack, you are hilarious. First, you commend Dennis, then whenever he reports on something you don't like, you call him a "hack." Real professional.

Yesterday, in a thread about the new game bill that you just claimed is unconstitutional, you also said "Now Hillary is going to force this standard upon the entire nation because Doug Lowenstein didn't see it coming." You have gloated multiple times that this bill will get passed on these very boards.

Make up your mind, Jack. Don't stay on the damn fence about it until something looks worth chasing. Make an opinion, stick with it, and to hell what us "pixelantes" think of you. I disrespect you not because of your beliefs, but because you have NO beliefs. You have opportunities, and you follow through after you know it's a safe path to go down. You tell lies and half-truths to try and be on everybody's side. And so far, you're losing on all sides : David Walsh disagrees with you, the game industry disagrees with you, Judge Moore practically threw you out. Pick a stance and fight for it.

I realize that if you choose to keep your promise of not returning to the GP boards (which I have $100 stake in) that you can't respond directly to this board. However, when you email me the name of the charity feel free to respond to this post as well if you so choose. I won't hold it against you.

"That is not my position, and Dennis knows that. I was unaware that the agency was using that language, and I have just instructed them to knock it off."

And yet, even on your own website you proclaim that you're suing to prevent the release of the game Bully. And yet you've come here and proclaimed that you've attempted to have all copies of Grand Theft Auto seized in California. And yet you've attempted to have the Grand Theft Auto games declared a public nuisance (and thus barred from stores) in Alabama.

You seem to be lying. Care to respond?

"Further, which is very interesting, why in the world did Dennis McCauley not contact me for a comment? Because he didn't want one. A real journalist would have called me. Further, just so it is clear, I don't get paid a penny for any radio appearances. Dennis, shame on you."

In other interviews and news releases, you've gone on and on about how the internet press are not real journalists to begin with. In this case, I'd suggest that your contradictory statements and actions speak for themselves. You've yet to defend these actions and statements anywhere and instead attack the source (which is also typical of your behavior).

"By the way, Dennis, when are you going to report that I have put out the fact that Hillary's video game bill is unconstitutional, hmmm?"

Oh, so now you WANT him on your side. I'd have banned your ass from this site for poor behavior by now. I don't know Dennis personally, but it appears he has far more patience than I do.

"Dennis' performance, as a hack, in not asking me for a comment on the false presentation of my views"

You have yet to offer any proof that those views are false. Again, your actions betray your statements. Hell, your own statements elsewhere betray your statements here.

"I think ends permanently my visits here. This time for good."

You mean you won't show up here spewing one liner insults and lies? Ooo...promises! (Which I'll note you already broke below.)

Duh!
You've already expressed your side... over... and over... and over again. Ad nauseum and in full blown John Bruce Thompson style: With lies, deceit, and fraud.

"...why in the world did Dennis McCauley not contact me for a comment?"

Whatsamatter, John Bruce? Don't like it when it's not you alone making comments? Don't like being left out rather than having only yourself heard? Even if I believed that GP intended malice, which if it's YOU complaining about it, it must actually not be true (ah the perils of being John Bruce Thompson). Even if I did believe it, I can just imagine you throwing your little fit. Stomping, screaming, crying, cursing, throwing everything that's not nailed down. You've been a bully since day one John Bruce. And's it's your own actions that prove it. Tell us John Bruce. Are you going to call 60 minutes "hacks" because they only showed your side in a positive manner? Are you going to call Anderson Cooper a "hack" because he only had you as a guest and no one from the "other" side to state their case fairly? No. In fact, you've basically cheered and bragged about the fact. So do I feel pity or sympathy for your cries?
Not in the least.

And though I've never fallen in with the few who wanted you banned, simply because I believe in Freedom of Speech in it's entirity, if you really are going to stop coming here, or already have, then a final sound bite, since you love them so much:

To paraphrase the title of the final M*A*S*H episode:
"Goodbye, Farewell, and Kiss my Arse, Jack-Arse!"
